Excel-based serious game in three progressive levels that puts the player in charge of a household Energy Management System (HEMS) and asks them to beat a flat-tariff baseline by exploiting flexibility.
Level 1 is the day-ahead hourly market: the player schedules the EV, the AC and a heat-pump boost across 24 hourly slots with given constraints (rolling-4h limits, daily kWh targets) and competes against an LP-optimal solution that scores 100/100.
Level 2 moves to the 15-minute imbalance market with real-time price spikes and introduces a 10 kWh home battery whose charge/discharge schedule must respect SoC bounds and round-trip efficiency.
Level 3 zooms out to an aggregator: the player coordinates flexibility across a small portfolio of households to bid into the FCR market against a remuneration curve. The workbook contains 739 formulas, an Every1-branded README, hint cells, automatic scoring and an optimal-solution sheet a teacher can reveal after the activity.
Suits homework or a maths/economics class period.
