The Every1 Project’s mission is to make sure everyone can play an active role in the Digital Energy Transition. Through capacity-building and knowledge sharing, we empower citizens, policymakers & industry to navigate and shape the evolving energy landscape.

As the global push toward a more sustainable energy future accelerates, the new case study "European Islands of Innovation" highlights how Europe’s islands are showing what this looks like in practice: From Kythnos (Greece) to Orkney (Scotland), Samsø (Denmark), and Les Îles du Ponant (France), communities are using digital tools — like smart grids, real-time data, and peer-to-peer energy trading to give residents the information and capabilities to take part in shaping their energy future.
The case study features several standout initiatives:
Kythnos, Greece has transformed itself into a living lab for smart energy, piloting digital solutions across the entire island.
Orkney, Scotland treats energy data as a community asset, unlocking collaborative benefits for residents.
Samsø, Denmark, already a leader in community-owned renewables, is sharing knowledge globally via digital platforms.
Les Îles du Ponant, France is coordinating action across 15 islands, using shared digital tools and exploring new frontiers in P2P energy trading.
These island communities, despite their geographical remoteness, are leading by example and thus showing that participatory, tech-enabled energy systems are not only possible but already taking place.
Through its capacity-building, knowledge sharing, and collaborative platforms, the Every1 Project is working to ensure that the digital energy transition is inclusive, allowing everyone to engage and be part of the digital energy transition.
