The Every1 project is delighted to announce its development of the Digital Energy Essentials suite of 12 free, online short courses. The 30-minute courses provide fundamental information on aspects of the digital energy transition and energy digitalisation. The courses include practical advice and tips, and learners can earn a digital badge for successful completion of the course material and quiz.
The Digital Energy Essentials courses are intended for the general public, with a particular focus on people who are:
- Interested in reducing and managing energy consumption at home.
- Looking for practical advice and tips in order to take concrete action.
- Curious about how new technologies are making a difference to how we produce and consume energy.
- Concerned about climate change or rising energy costs.
Hosted on The Open University (UK)’s OpenLearn Create platform the Digital Energy Essentials courses are available in an accessible, easy-to-use online format and are also downloadable in different formats. The Every1 project is also developing accompanying offline versions of the courses.
Digital Energy Essentials comprises:

| 7 | Clean energy production | Find out more about clean energy production and how you can make your energy cleaner and greener. |
| 8 | Energy, privacy, safety and security | Understand what energy privacy, safety and security are and why they are important. |
| 9 | Energy anxiety | Where to find support and help when you’re worried about your own or others’ energy use. |
| 10 | Energy flows / energy systems | Explaining digital energy markets and why the price of your energy changes. |
| 11 | Energy communities | What is an energy community and how can you get involved. |
| 12 | Energy information and critical literacy | Develop your skills to better understand information about energy consumption and production. |
The Every1 project is committed to supporting reuse and localisation of materials to suit the needs of people in diverse contexts. For this reason, all Every1 learning materials are Creative Commons licensed (CC BY-SA 4.0), allowing them to be freely adapted and reshared. The project will be providing training on the reuse and adaptation of materials through a variety of webinars and activities.
